His body language says, he is/was a very humble creator. Can't read or write a line, the cosmos connection is obvious. Love so see an original, even some of the audience seem to feel, the once in a century master is present...sleep well brother, we can't say enough thanks for the gift you shared with us...
Another great resource to discover the nature and quality of creativity. All primary school teachers should study this programme and be guided in implementing a thematic approach to curriculum implementation. Alvin, a national treasure
Thank you for sharing this video, it was truly satisfying to see this interview!!! I find the musical work of Mr. Dennis Franklyn Williams the 'Merchant' to be such an treasure. For me, he is one who stands on El Cerro del Aripo... deserving highest respect!
I felt like i was certainly in the company of a genius. 'The Merchant of Chagville'. Thank you Alvin Daniel for this series; and this amazing time spent with one of the greatest calypsonians to have graced our small but powerful Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹🇹🇹
I remember seeing this when it was aired the first time. What a musician - Dennis Williams. Hearing his voice reminds me of my relationship with calypso/soca as a child
This guy should be on par with songwriters like Smokey Robinson, and Bill Withers. His ability to fit words into unique one of a kind melodies, made even more difficult because he's using Calypso timing not 4/4. And he is doing it all without being able to read or write music. This is what Genius looks like.
Merchant's story is unique!!! Thank you uncle Alvin Daniell!!
Thank You Mr. Daniell. Been looking for this for awhile! All the best to you and yours for the Christmas!
The best ever calypso showcase i have witnessed so emotional so real so down to earth..pore raising
I remember this episode
